International Student Association (ISA)
First of all, let us make it clear that ISA is not ISL (International Student Life) or ISS (International Support Services), but ISL will always be there to give guidance and help that ISA may need. So then, what is ISA?
Drury has always had ISA. ISA is in a restructuring and rebuilding mode and your interest and enthusiasm will move the organization along toward greater vitality.
ISA is an international student organization run by Drury students at Drury. It provides opportunities for the international students to come together and explore different cultures. Not only is it a way to make friends but it is also a great way to develop one’s organizational and leadership skills. By organizing various events such as visits to St. Louis, Kansas City, Chicago and small gatherings to mark Halloween, Thanksgiving, the Chinese New Year and Diwali, the international students explore new places. Since these events are open to international as well as the domestic students, faculty and staff, ISA is a great way to learn about U.S. culture too. The Student Government Association (SGA) will provide ISA with the required funds to manage all these activities. More information about this process will be given at a later date.
Of all the events that ISA organizes, the International Food Festival is the mega event held in the Commons (in the Spring semester) where Drury international students actually prepare dishes from their home country in the Commons Kitchen and also provide entertainment for the 200-400 people who annually attended the International Food Fest. Usually there are songs or dances from various countries.
In a way, ISA is much like the Friends and SPI programs. But ISA is completely run by the international student body.
