Dr. Natalie Precise is an Assistant Professor of Education in Drury University’s School of Education and Child Development. Her classes focus on literacy instruction including language development, reading and writing instruction, literacy assessment, and children’s literature. She teaches courses such as Methods of Teaching Language Arts, Methods of Teaching Children’s Literature, Analysis and Correction of Reading Difficulties, and other similar courses.

Dr. Precise comes to Drury University after serving the past eight years in the public school system where she taught fifth grade for seven years and math intervention for one year. She also served as the A+ Coordinator for her district and participated in multiple organizations and committees. Dr. Precise’s certifications include Elementary Education grades 1-6 and an Elementary Principal certification. 

Dr. Precise’s research includes a thesis focused on job sharing in the regular education classroom and a dissertation entitled, “Leadership Implications for Teaching Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders in the General Education Classroom.” She has presented her dissertation as the session chair as a conference presenter for the Hawaii International Conference on Education in Honolulu, Hawaii, in January of 2013. She was also a finalist for the 2012 Dan Cockrell Dissertation of the Year Award.

Dr. Precise is active in the Missouri State Teacher Association serving as the Teacher Education and Professional Standards chairperson for the Missouri Southwest Region.

Dr. Precise is married and has one daughter, Ainsley, who plays a role in her dedication to educating tomorrow’s future educators.
