Valerie Zelenka, Ph. D., is an assistant professor in the School of Education and Child Development at Drury University.  She teaches Reading Methods, Language Arts Methods, and Children’s Literature Methods.  Dr. Zelenka also serves as a faculty sponsor for the Drury Student Teacher Association. 

Before coming to Drury University, Dr. Zelenka taught Reading Methods and Language Arts Methods at Kansas State University.  Prior to that, she served as a classroom teacher and special education teacher in Missouri, a special education teacher in Kansas, and a reading coordinator and training and curriculum specialist in Hawaii. 

Dr. Valerie Zelenka received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education, a Master of Science in Special Education, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Reading Education from Kansas State University.
