Dr. Wendy B. Anderson, associate professor of biology, came to Drury University in August 1998. She received her B.S. and M.S. degrees in biology from Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Her Ph.D. in biology is from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. Dr. Anderson teaches Botany, Ecology, and Environmental Science courses. Her current research as a plant ecologist focuses on two focal ecosystems. As a forest ecologist, she studies the physiology of herbaceous plants and the role they play in forest nutrient cycling processes in Tennessee and southern Missouri. As a desert ecologist, she investigates the influence of marine-derived nutrients on plant an animal populations and communities on desert islands in the Gulf of California.
