Getting Started @ Drury
Q: Where and how long do classes meet?
Classes meet at the Drury University Rolla Campus located at 1034 S. Bishop Avenue. All class periods (unless denoted otherwise) meet for two and a half hours, once a week, and run for 16 weeks total. During the summer semester classes meet twice a week and run for eight weeks.
Q: What is "My Drury" and how do I use it?
Every Drury student is issued his or her own account on Drury's website that allows one to check grades, schedules, and the status of their financial aid. Additionally, students may also print an unofficial copy of transcripts. To login to a "My Drury" account, students must have a Drury ID# and a PIN that is issued by the computer services department. To get this PIN, students may call the Drury University Computer Help Desk at 1-800-914-7953.
Q: I've requested my transcripts. What do I do next?
After requesting all of the needed transcripts and filling out the online application for admission, it is every student's responsibility to check on the status of their admission. Students can do this by calling the Rolla office to see if the transcripts have been received.
Only official transcripts (in a sealed envelope from the university/high school itself) can be accepted. It is important to know that until all documents are received, a student's admission status will remain incomplete and no financial aid can be processed.
Q: Can I start classes before being admitted?
Absolutely! Students are encouraged to attend classes while admission is pending. Students, however, must accept the responsibility to become fully admitted to receive financial aid.
Q: How does financial aid work?
Every student wanting to use financial aid of any sort must begin by filing their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), also called a Student Aid Report. While measuring a student's financial need, it also determines whether or not they are eligible for a Pell grant, which is a grant from the government that does not have to be paid back. This award is applied to your account first before any student loans or other scholarships. If after applying for a Pell grant a student decides they need more financial aid, student loans are available. A student may apply for loans online or in the office. In the event a student's FAFSA has been selected for verification, they will need to turn additional paperwork into the office including a copy of their 10-40's and W-2's. This paperwork can be downloaded from the Drury website or is also available in the office. Verification must be completed prior to any financial aid being dispersed to a student's business account. To check the status of financial aid, students should either check My Drury or call the office. We will be more than happy to help in any way that we can!
Q: How does a student get a book voucher?
In order for a student to receive a voucher to pay for his/her books at Patty's University Bookstore (or Drury University bookstore in Springfield for online courses), the following must be completed:

Q: What happens if my Financial Aid isn't completed by the end of the semester?
If a student's financial aid is incomplete by the end of the semester, the student will be held responsible for paying the full amount of tuition before they begin the next semester. If an account isn't paid off by financial aid or by paying out-of-pocket, the student will have a business hold put on the account and they will be unable to register for classes or order a transcript until the balance is paid. Failure to pay tuition by the end of the semester may result in the student having to pre-pay tuition for the next semester before he/she can register for classes.
All students are expected to attend classes at the time for which they are scheduled. If a student is unable to attend class, for whatever reason, the student should call the office . It is up to each individual instructor as to how an absence will affect the students grade in the class.
As students begin their college careers, it is very important to meet with an academic advisor on a regular basis to discuss progress, class schedules, and any other questions. Students can contact the office to schedule advising appointments.
