Round 1

Before Round 1 Begins: Junior Panhellenic Task

  • PNM Contact Sheet: Each PNM should list name, email and mobile phone number on sheet
    • The junior Panhellenic should review information with each PNM and return completed form to Panhellenic Advisor)

Meeting: 15 minutes

  • Introduction & Intro Activity: “Welcome to the first day of Sorority Recruitment!”
    • Review name and talk about one fun fact of all group members, including the Recruitment Counselor, the Junior Panhellenic officer, PNMs and current Sorority members
  • Recruitment Counselor: “Hello everyone, I’m (name) and I’ll be your recruitment counselor this year.  Recruitment counselors are an effective and important part of your recruitment process. 
    • Role of RC:  My role as the recruitment counselor is to guide you through the recruitment process. I will be with you the whole next week and I will be your go to person if you have any question or concerns.
    • Counselor, Friend, Availability: Please don’t hesitate to ask me anything that will help you!  That’s what I’m here for, and don’t worry, I will keep our conversations confidential. 
      • RC contact card: “Here is my contact information so you know exactly how and when you can contact me.” (Provide contact card to PNMs: includes RC name, mobile phone, email and best way to reach you)
    • Disassociation: I’m disassociated from my own sorority chapter, this means that during recruitment I will not be communicating with any members of my chapter. This is so you can be confident that I’m looking out for your best interests by providing a neutral, objective overview to help you decide what the best decision for you is.”
  • What we’re doing for this event:  “Tonight is the orientation event for Sorority Recruitment and it’s called team night because of our team-building activities.  This is what you can expect for the evening:”
    • “After we finish our meeting, we’ll begin our first round with includes a chapter presentation in this suite, where you’ll learn fun, basic facts about the chapter and participate in team activities.  We’ll go to each suite after the activity and follow a very similar format. We’ll also take a short break during round three. At the end of the evening, we’ll have our final team meeting in the fourth suite, where I’ll give you important information about what to expect for the rest of recruitment and tomorrow.”

  • Chapter Presentation Introduction: “Welcome to your final round of team night.  Remember, after the chapter presentation and the team building activity, we will have our closing team meeting.  And now we’re ready for our chapter presentation from the (name) chapter!”

Meeting & Reminders: 10-15 minutes

  • Evening Review:  “Well I thought that was fun, did everyone have a good time tonight?  Great!  We wanted to make sure that each of you had a chance to get to know other new students, current sorority women and that we had a chance to give you important information about your drury recruitment experience.”
  • Questions: “We’ve gone over a lot of information tonight and I’m sure that you’ve got questions or need more information.  Lets take a few minutes to review: what questions do you have?”
  • Absences:  “If you will be absent from part or all of an recruitment event and you haven’t spoken with me about this yet, please remain for a few minutes after this meeting.  I need to make sure that I have your information in my records and we’ll make sure we get your selections taken care of as needed.”
  • Individual meetings: “If you need to speak with me privately about anything, please remain for a few minutes after this meeting.  I’d be happy to assist you.”
  • Name Tags: “There is no need to keep your name tags, I will give you another one tomorrow.”
  • PNM Contact Sheet:If you haven’t listed your information on the contact sheet that (Junior Panhell name) has, please do so now.  We need to make sure we have this important information from you.”

Next Event Schedule Review: Alumnae Event

  • What to expect: Tomorrow night is the Alumnae Event. For this event we will be hanging out with some of the alumnae from each chapter. This is a causal night where you will hear about each of their Greek life experiences.
  • Meeting & Schedule: “Please be on time tomorrow night.  Our opening team meeting begins at 8:15pm.  During our meeting, we’ll review our event times. I want to make sure you know what exactly is going on and answer any questions you may have”
