To ensure that liberal arts knowledge and understanding is central to the Drury experience and fundamental to all programs. These are the goals of Drury University.
To ensure that liberal arts knowledge and understanding is central to the Drury experience and fundamental to all programs, the University maintains and strengthens its commitment to:
• develop the abilities of all students to: think critically, communicate effectively, empathize, make mature value judgments, exhibit personal and social responsibility and chart a healthy course for life; • insure that all graduates are familiar with the Western tradition, its history, great ideas, and significant artifacts; • provide students with an opportunity for in-depth study; • integrate theoretical and applied learning in all programs.
To become a model of a global community in which the best values of the liberal arts and the Judeo-Christian traditions govern, the university is dedicated to:
• providing an environment which affirms the equality and worth of all peoples; • focusing upon the diversity of human culture, language, history and experience; • creating a co-curricular environment supportive of development of the whole person intellectually, socially, morally, emotionally, physically and spiritually; • preparing students for a time of significant global adjustment by strengthening their understanding of science and technology, their perception of the interrelatedness of all things, their appreciation for beauty in nature and the built world, and their love of truth and freedom.
