John Q. Hammons, chairman and CEO of John Q. Hammons Hotels, Inc., is a developer, entrepreneur and philanthropist. His business interests include residential, hotel, office and country club developments throughout the United States. He has been a benefactor and supporter of health care institutions, public television, the arts and education in Springfield. The Hammons School of Architecture at Drury is named in recognition of his founding support. He is a 1947 graduate of Southwest Missouri State University. He received an honorary doctorate from Drury in 1987 and was named Springfieldian of the Year in 1980. He serves on the buildings and grounds committee of the Board of Trustees. John Q. and his wife, Juanita, make their home in Springfield.
