Drury University offers both seated classes and online webinar classes as a means of providing training using best practices, texts, and research compiled in new media communications. Students who successfully complete Drury’s social media graduate course will receive 3 hours of graduate credit that is transferable to accredited universities accepting social media courses within their degree offerings. Drury's Social Media Certificate provides strategic entrepreneurial, PR and brand marketing clarity in terms of designing and piloting social media campaigns. Our SMC program goes well beyond the singular dimension of a weekend webinar by providing media use management skills, research groups, and a guaranteed portfolio for practitioners with profit and nonprofit deliverables, as well as skill sets for adapting to the continuing evolution of integrated media experiences.

Drury is proud to offer one of the very few Social Media Certificates nation-wide.
Our Curriculum: Drury's SMC provides "hands on" experience through workshops and research of marketing media management, information technology, entrepreneurship and culture. We begin our SMC with a bootcamp in several practical and well-used social media such as Blogs, Microblogs, Networks, Bookmarking, Wikis and web 3.0 content. The program includes lectures and lab assignments covering media usage, integration, and research, traditional and contemporary marketing campaigns with social media, cultural assessments of social media, and a review of the information architecture of various social media technologies.
Participants will gain knowledge in the unique environment of the social media realm including mashups, apps, games, viral behavior, podcasting, vlogging, streaming video sharing, variations on social bookmarking, cross pinging, SEO and page rank, social optimizing, and more. Drury's social media certificate experience equips students with specific, in-depth knowledge about the most used forms of social media, a review of the "cutting edge" of social media, as well as a vision for keeping up with this ever evolving phenomenon. We will understand Web 2.0 and look ahead to what Web 3.0 is already providing for us. Our faculty will guide students as they learn effective social media design, use and implementation and build the skills they need.
