Dr. Jeff Jones

See the article on this great achievement

Dr. Jeff Jones, Assistant Professor of Finance, has completed the requirements to receive the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) designation by successfully passing the Level III exam in June 2009. The CFA program consists of a series of three examinations over a minimum three year period covering topics such as equity and fixed income analysis, portfolio management, accounting, economics, derivatives, alternative investments and ethics. To become a charterholder, candidates must also have at least 4 years of full-time experience in an investments-related field, comply with certain ethical requirements, and be granted membership into a CFA society.

The CFA designation is widely regarded as one of the premier global professional designations in the investment industry. According to Dr. Jones, "Obtaining the CFA designation allows me to more effectively introduce students to the benefits of the program and the career opportunities the CFA designation can create. It also provides an added degree of credibility when interacting with investment professionals." With Dr. Jones receiving this designation, he brings added expertise in the area of investments to the already outstanding academic programs in the Breech School of Business.

Dr. Jones completed his bachelors degree and masters of business administration through Drury University. He received his doctorate in finance from the University of Arkansas in 2008. His current research* focuses on the opacity of the banking industry and its contribution to the 2007 financial crisis.
