Membership in Drury University Greek Life is a privilege. Drury University Greek chapters select each member for their character, interests, talents, activities, honors and scholarship. Privileges and responsibilities go hand-in-hand. To enjoy the privileges of being involved in Drury University Greek Life, members and new members must accept the responsibilities of membership and act in accordance with IFC/Panhellenic Council, National Organization and Drury University Policies.
Basic Membership Standards
Pledging Standards
A potential new member is considered to a new member of a Greek organization provided that they have a completed Membership Acceptance Contract on file with the Greek Life office and have received and accepted an invitation for membership to a Greek organization.
Initiation Standards
A new member may be initiated when they have met the requirements of the Greek organization to which they have pledged.
Officer Standards
An initiated member may hold a Greek Leadership position when they have met the requirements of the Greek organization to which they are a member.
Financial Standards
All Greek students are required to maintain good financial standing with their chapters and any chapter-related charges on University bills.
Academic Standards
A new member or member is considered to be in good academic standing with the chapter provided that they have met the academic requirements of the Greek organization to which they are a member.
All Greek students are required to have a completed Grade Release Statement on file in the Greek Life Office. These forms are student-signed academic information release forms that allow chapter leadership to view grade related information from each member. They remain effective for the duration of a member's involvement with their Greek chapter.
Greek Life Membership Educational Programs
Greek students are encouraged to attend educational programs that enhance their Drury Greek Life experience. These programs should be held once each calendar year and include:
Greek Life Participation Standards
Participation and attendance in general Greek Life sponsored events is required for the Greek Life community. Greek chapters are required to have 50% of current members (new and initiated, excluding study abroad during their study abroad period) members attend all general Greek Life events.
Participation and attendance in Greek Life sponsored special and/or recruitment events is required for the Greek Life community. Greek chapters are required to have 100% of current members (new and initiated, excluding study abroad excluding study abroad during their study abroad period) members attend all Greek Life sponsored special and/or recruitment events.
