DU Uncut's audio engineer, Jimmy Rea, and his band the Hillbenders win the Bluegrass Band Contest in Telluride, Colorado

For the last two years Jimmy Rea has mixed all the music you hear on DU Uncut and several of the bands in which he plays have appeared on the show, including the Hillbenders.

Last week the Hillbenders competed in the Telluride Bluegrass Band Contest in Telluride, Colorado and won!!

According to the Telluride website:

"The rules of the Telluride band contest require each group this year a field of ten, to perform one instrumental, one fast vocal, and one slow vocal. The judges including a Grammy-winning studio engineer, gave The Hillbenders the nod based on material selection, instrumental performance, vocal performance, and stage presence."
