Dr. Laurie Boen: Technology Tools for Differentiated Curriculum

The Spring Symposium this year will be led by Dr. Laurie Boen. Differentiated Curriculum will be coupled with Web 2.0 tools to challenge learners in higher order thinking skills such as analysis, creation, logic, reasoning, problem solving, and creativity. This category of Internet tools will include technologies such as Wikis, Glogster, and Voice Thread. You will leave with ideas ready for implementation.

Registration: Begins at 8:00 - Drury University - Lay Hall
Cost: $30 for Non-Credit (includes a working lunch) 
  $308 for one hour of Graduate Credit (includes a working lunch)

Dr. Laurie Boen earned her Bachelor’s degree at the University of Texas. She later received her Master’s degree in gifted education from Drury University-Springfield, Missouri. Laurie completed her doctorate in curriculum and instruction from the University of Arkansas, with her dissertation on Differentiated Instruction and Response to Intervention.  Laurie taught in public schools for 17 years at all grade levels, and served as the coordinator for gifted programs, working with both teachers and students in grades K-12.  She is currently an assistant professor of pre-service teachers, working with graduate students on their research projects. Laurie continues her work in gifted education by training teachers pursuing their Master’s or certification in the field. As a consultant, she focuses her work with teachers on differentiated instruction and the field of gifted education. Laurie and her husband live in Branson, Missouri. They have four daughters and two granddaughters.
