SPRINGFIELD , Mo. , February 5, 2009 — The Skinny Improv will present “The Start of Funny” on Thursday, Feb. 12 at 8:30 p.m. in Clara Thompson Hall.

In 2001, a tenacious group of actors decided to found a comedy club and improvisational group from nothing, then built it into a comedic juggernaut (at least for Springfield). This is their story, told in the way only the Skinny Improv can tell it.

The Skinny Improv, a division of the Upside Down Creative Group, prospers as a comedy training center and performance review. Located in downtown Springfield, The Skinny Improv is known for both performing and teaching short and long-form improvisational theatre.

This event is sponsored by the Student Union Board.

Drury University 's 2008-2009 convocation series Entrepreneurship & Innovation focuses on unique and innovative approaches to business, social and environmental issues. This series features the stories of individuals and organizations who apply energy and ingenuity to improve their world.

Events are free and open to the public. For more information, please contact Rebecca Denton at (417) 873-7377, or by e-mail at rdenton@drury.edu, or visit www.drury.edu/convo0809.
