This weekend, Drury students will be directing and participating in one act performances as a part of the winter student directed one-acts, as presented by the Drury theatre department.
The once a year event is scheduled for December 12 and 13 at 8 p.m. in the Wilhoit Theatre located in the Breech School of Business Administration building. The event is a chance for students to direct their own one-act plays and bring rare performances to campus.
"These are plays you don't normally get to see," Dr. Robin Schraft, director of theatre, said.
This year, there are 5 participating directors of one-acts, with 14 additional students acting in the performances. Directors include Caitlin Goddard, William Hudson, Chris Hunter, Drew Nungesser, and Lainie Vansant.
Jason Loeffler, prior participant in the student directed one-acts, said, "The one-acts are usually the most entertaining shows to attend because they are completely student produced and it is fun to see what other students are capable of putting together."
Drury students who are interested in viewing the performances can pick tickets up at the door for $1.
"Go see a show or two, figure out when the next audition is, and then try out for it," Loeffler said, who has auditioned many times for a variety of performances. "I've earned roles that have been rewarding not only in the recognition of personal achievement, but in the friendships and learning experiences gained therein."
