Residential Break & Closing Dates for 2009-2010

RESIDENCE HALLS

  • Residence halls close for Fall Break on Wednesday, October 21st and reopen on Sunday, October 25th at 2pm.
  • Thanksgiving break, they close on Tuesday, November 24th at 6pm and reopen on Sunday, November 29th at 2pm.
  • For Winter Break, they close on Friday, December 18th at 6pm and reopen on Sunday, January 17th at 2pm.
  • For Spring Break, they close at 6pm on Friday, March 19th and reopen on Sunday, March 28th at 2pm.

Residence hall students requiring housing during break periods must complete a Hall Closing Access Request form one week prior to the requested break. Forms are made available by your Hall Director no later than 2 weeks prior to each break. Meal plans are not active during Thanksgiving, Winter and Spring breaks.

Non-graduating residents who marked “Fall only”* on their housing contracts, need to set up a check-out appointment with their Hall Director prior to 6pm on Friday, December 18th . December graduates residing in the halls may check out as late as Sunday, December 20th with prior permission from their Hall Directors.

FRATERNITY HOUSE RESIDENTS
Fraternity house residents are not required to move out of the houses for Fall Break, Thanksgiving Break or Spring Break.

For Winter Break, the houses close on Friday, December 18th at 6pm and reopen on Sunday, January 17th at 2pm.

If a fraternity house resident needs to stay in their house during Winter break, it is the student's responsibility to get a “Request for Break Housing” form from his House Director and return it by the date advertised, and agree to pay any break housing fees that may be posted to the student's account.

However, non-graduating residents who marked “Fall Only”* on their housing contract, need to set up a check-out appointment with their House Father prior to 6pm on Friday, December 18th.

December graduates residing in the fraternity houses may check out as late as Sunday, December 20th with prior permission from their House Fathers.

APARTMENT-STYLE & MIDTOWN RESIDENTS
Students residing in apartment-style housing or Midtown houses for both fall and spring semesters are not required to request permission to stay during breaks. However, non-graduating residents who marked “Fall Only”* on their housing contracts , need to set up a check-out appointment with the Housing Office prior to 6pm on Friday, December 18th . December graduates may check out no later than Sunday, December 20th with prior permission from the Housing Office.

*“FALL ONLY” STUDENTS MAY NOT ELECT TO STAY LATER THAN SUNDAY, DECEMBER 20th IN ANY TYPE OF HOUSING, IN ORDER FOR HOUSING, SECURITY, MAINTENANCE AND CUSTODIAL TO TURN OVER THE ROOM/UNIT IN TIME FOR THE NEW SPRING RESIDENT.

MAY 2010 MOVE-OUT

Residence halls close for the 2009-2010 academic year on Friday, May 14th by 6pm. May 2010 graduates may stay in the halls until Sunday, May 16th at 5pm. All students must set up a check-out appointment with their Hall Director by the date advertised, and be present at the appointment to ensure the room/suite has been cleaned to standards. Any student who does not set up an appointment or who does not participate in the walk-through with the Hall Director at the appointed time, will be charged a $100 improper check-out fee.

All students must set up a check-out appointment with the Housing Office by the date advertised, and be present at the appointment to ensure the room/unit has been cleaned to standards. Any student who does not set up an appointment or who does not participate in the walk-through with Residential Life staff at the appointed time, will be charged a $100 improper check-out fee.
