Welcome to the Women's Entrepreneurship Symposium!

6th Annual Women’s Entrepreneurship Symposium:
Reinvention through entrepreneurship

Saturday, February 8, 2014

Whether you own an established business or you are exploring starting a business, WES was a Saturday morning you did not want to miss. We put together a dynamic program of key note speakers and breakout sessions, most centering around the theme of reinvention, with some nuts and bolts advice thrown in for good measure.

New this year: We moving to the O’Reilly Center! We were able to accommodate more participants and we added a new feature, the Woman-owned Business Showcase. Along with our regular exhibitors, we had many new faces as women shared their business with you and gave you the opportunity to network and learn from each other.

Keynote speakers:

Emily Church, Founder and owner of Everything Kitchens. Emily’s amazing story begins in 2001, at the age of 19, when she started a business selling kitchen products online. Twelve years later, she has built that business into a 24-employee enterprise projected to garner $15 million in 2013 revenue. “I wanted to start my business so I could lift myself from poverty as my family was very poor. I am the oldest of nine children, and I did not have money for college,” Church says. Emily’s resourcefulness and creativity will teach us important lessons we can apply to our own lives and businesses.

Sandy Edwards, Deputy Director of Crystal Bridges.
Sandy Edwards and her husband spent their careers in university development. When she lost her husband, she was completely immobilized and had to reinvent herself. Alice Walton asked her to help her develop Crystal Bridges in Bentonville, Arkansas, which has become the premier art museum in the world focusing on American art. Sandy’s story of reinvention and transformation will inspire all of us.
