Juliana Gehant

Former student remembered

As a decorated soldier with more than 10 years of active duty, Juliana Gehant begun developing a new passion and goal in life—teaching.   

In an article from the Daily Herald (Chicago, Ill), Dave Schroeder, a teacher from Gehant's Mendota Township High School said, "(She) would have made a tremendous teacher.   She would just have been superior."

While in the military, Gehant attended classes at Drury's St. Robert campus.  

“She always seemed genuinely excited about her classes and life really,” says Mary Iarussi, coordinator for academic support activities at Drury's St. Robert campus.   “She really seemed to be happy with whatever she was working on.”

Most everyone that came into contact with Gehant saw unlimited potential and great ability.

“In my 9 years at Drury I have seen some very exceptional future teachers. However, Juliana was in a class by herself,” says Iarussi.
