President Todd Parnell

Welcome to Drury University

A personal greeting from President Todd Parnell

Thank you for visiting Drury University's Web site. Expect to be surprised by all that Drury has to offer you.

If you are considering Drury, let me share with you some of the reasons students are drawn to our university. First you will find that Drury has bright students with caring professors who give them personal attention. While the university is regionally focused, it is also nationally recognized and globally engaged.

I'm proud to say I graduated from Drury in 1969. My wife and two sons received Drury degrees, so I can tell you from personal experience all our university offers you.

As my family has found, it is that personal education that separates Drury from other schools. Here are a few other facts about the Drury experience:

Drury is where your professors become deeply involved in your education in and out of the classroom. One Drury student told The Princeton Review: β€œThe small classrooms and personal relationships with other students and professors encourage rigorous, honest and passionate learning. The professors all seem to really love it here, and the students enjoy the dedication from their teachers.” In the National Survey of Student Engagement, our students rate their interaction with our faculty above the national average of students attending other schools.

Drury will prepare you for success after graduation. A third of our graduates proceed to graduate school, and our job placement efforts are personal and reflect the hands-on philosophy that is Drury. (Career Center)

At Drury you learn about the world and your opportunities in it. More than 50 percent of our undergraduate traditional students study abroad. In addition, every traditional student graduates with a minor in global studies. You will be globally engaged and ready to take on all the world has to offer.

You'll find that Drury is a private liberal arts college with top-notch professional programs in business, architecture, art, education, communications, entrepreneurship and the sciences. Others have recognized the university's academic quality, including the prestigious U.S. News and World Report rankings, which placed Drury among the top 10 private, master's level universities in the Midwest.

If you're a person who works full-time and looking for a way to put your career on the fast track, look at our College of Graduate and Continuing Studies. Beyond Springfield, CGCS has nine other branch campuses and many Internet courses for your convenience. In addition to numerous certificate programs, CGCS offers many undergraduate and graduate degree programs as well.

β€œWhy Drury?” The deeper you investigate what the university has to offer you, the more you'll find Drury a caring, close-unit community.

If you choose Drury, you'll find my door always open. Our faculty and staff are similarly devoted to your success and are eager to welcome you to our community. And you will likely meet me and many other faculty and staff on student move-in day helping to unload cars. The Drury community is like that.

Warm regards,

Todd Parnell
