Drury Community Outreach Center
The Community Outreach Center serves as a valuable community resource engaging the hands and hearts of Drury students, faculty, and staff members in community-based projects to address the growing list of needs in our community.
It supports several projects throughout the year, including the annual Relay for Life, the Habitat for Humanity Sustainable Home, the College Bound program with Central High School and assists in selection and coordination of the Summit Park Leadership Community.
Projects with the Community Outreach Center include:
• Work with the Habitat for Humanity Sustainable home
• College Bound! A High School mentoring program that links current High School Students with Drury University college students for mentoring and tutoring.
• The Summit Park Leadership Community, a residence area composed of student leaders volunteering their time and going above and beyond the call to service
• The Make a Difference National Day of Doing Good, an annual event challenging Americans to get out and do something good for their community
Also, the Community Outreach Center provides the Volos , Greece study abroad program, as well as various opportunities through the student organization Drury Volunteer Corp that holds volunteer events near Drury University 's campus on a monthly basis.
Another major part of the Community Outreach Center is the Taking a Stand for Kids (TASK) program, a campus-wide initiative to improve the quality of life of the children in our community. TASK can assume many roles including educational movements, academic activities, mentoring programs, leadership incentives, after-school programs, sports, music and art co curriculums.
