Camdenton artist and Drury professor team up to create new book
Waldo Chambers has made his life playing and performing jazz on saxophone. This Camdenton Missouri native has recently taken up drawing as well. The Pool Art Center will proudly present Chambers first drawing exhibit in its gallery.
In beginning his visual art career, Chambers has drawn the attention of some of the Art and Art History faculty of Drury University. So much so that Tom Parker, M.F.A., has written a book about Chambers and his works, No Mistakes: The Drawings of Waldo Chambers.
A quote from the book says, “We notice an almost obsessive attention paid to craft in Chamber's drawings. The marks are put on the paper with the precision of notes played in succession just as they might come from his horn.”
There will be an artist's talk on Friday, Nov 2 from 6-7 p.m. at the Pool Art Center. A reception will follow. Copies of the book will be available to purchase for $20 at the reception and Parker and Chambers will be signing.
