How You Can Recycle on the Drury University Campus

Recycling on campus just got a lot easier!

There are three ways you can recycle on the DU campus:

1. Use the brightly colored bins found all around campus.

2. Take your Aluminum, Plastics, and Paper to our new recycling facility, located on the Tindle Mills property on the south side of Central Street, directly south of Summit Avenue, just a block east of the Hammons School of Architecture. It's open Monday through Friday, 7am to 4pm.

3. Take your Corrugated Cardboard to the Cardboard Recycling Dumpsters, located behind the Findlay Student Center and the Hammons School of Architecture.

4. Bring your Plastic Bags, Rechargeable Batteries, Cell Phones, Printer Cartridges, Toner Cartridges, and Clothing (including scraps) to the ThinkGreen! Office, located on the second floor of the Trustee Science Center. The office is open from 12 to 2 pm on Friday afternoons, or by appointment. Contact us at Recycle@Drury.edu to schedule a drop off.

What Can Be Recycled:

Aluminum: The Habitat for Humanity recycling bins are for aluminum cans. Please be sure cans are completely empty. Not sure if it's aluminum? Magnets won't stick to aluminum but will stick to tin cans.

Plastics #1-#7: Recycling bins with yellow lids are for plastic recyclables. All plastic containers must be completely empty. Not sure what number plastic that container is? You'll find a small triangle with a number in the middle on the bottom of the container. The only plastics we don't take are plastic grocery sacks or Styrofoam containers.

Paper: Recycling bins with blue lids and the blue containers are for paper recyclables. All types of paper (including magazines, newspapers, textbooks, soft-cover books, phone books, envelopes with plastic windows, paper with staples, pasteboard etc.) can be recycled. Corrugated cardboard, original blueprints, wax or plastic-coated paper, aluminum foil-lined paper, thermal fax paper, and thermal calculator paper cannot be recycled.
