Scott Puryear joined the Drury University staff in June of 2005 after a 21-year career in the newspaper business as a writer and columnist for the Springfield News-Leader, a position that provided him the opportunity to cover the likes of two Super Bowls, a World Series and three major golf championships in addition to the many local events he described for Ozarkers, including the long-awaited debut of the Springfield Cardinals minor-league baseball team. He continues to co-host The Sports Reporters morning sports talk radio show five days a week (from 9 to 11 a.m.) on JOCK 98.7 FM. A 1985 graduate of Southwest Missouri State University with a degree in organizational communication, Puryear is a native of Noel, Mo. He and his wife, Rochelle, have four children: Paige, Marcus, Nate and Abbi.
