About Drury's Areas of Study
Drury University is an institution of higher education offering 51 undergraduate majors and 39 undergraduate minors. Drury offers bright, high-achieving students a commitment to personalized education and diversity. Students explore great ideas and confront questions that will successfully prepare them for dynamic careers and enhanced lives as active global participants.
With the exception of transfer and CGCS evening school students, Drury University students complete the Global Perspectives 21 Core Curriculum**. Consequently, Drury University students graduate with a Global Studies minor.
**NOTE: Effective June 1, 2012, Drury's general education requirements are changing from the GP21 curriculum to the new Drury Core program. All incoming students beginning Fall 2012 will follow the Drury Core curriculum. The final curriculum will be posted on June 1. Current Drury Core Worksheet
Drury's Global Perspectives 21 curriculum adds a unique dimension to your collegiate experience. It guides you an understanding of how you fit in a global society and how you can have an effect upon the world. Drury encourages students to investigate global issues not just in classrooms on campus, but also through the numerous study abroad programs that we offer throughout the world. You emerge with an appreciation of how societies and fields of knowledge intertwine.
Each year, a theme is selected and incorporated into the GP21 curriculum. Freshmen enroll in Alpha Seminar, a year-long course where students attend and participate in numerous speaking engagements through Drury University's convocation series. This year's theme is The Changing Planet: Our Role in Nature's Economy. . The series draws some of the most dynamic scholars, business leaders, and activists from around the country to speak. It is paramount to the first-year experience at Drury University.
