2. What scholarships are offered to international students?
Freshman and transfer students with less than 30 credit hours are eligible for the Academic Honor Scholarship for International Students based on their TOEFL score and their high school GPA.

3. Are there any loans available to international students?
There is one loan available to international students. If interested please check www.studentloan.com

4. Do international students qualify for need-based scholarships?
Drury University does not offer need-based scholarships to international students.

5. Do international students from English speaking countries need to provide a proof of English proficiency?
Yes, international students whose native language is English still need to provide a proof of English proficiency: TOEFL, SAT, ACT, E.L.S. Language Centers—Level 109, University of Cambridge International English Language Testing System (IELTS)—minimum of 6.0, British system A levels, minimum of C in English, are all acceptable.

6. Do Transfer Students qualify for Drury Scholars Scholarships?
Yes, they can compete under the same requirements as freshman students. If you have a score of 1300 or higher on your SAT or 29 and above on your ACT and your GPA from high school is an equivalent of 3.5 or higher according to the American system you are eligible to compete! They will need to submit: a typed comprehensive listing of honors and activities participated in, two typed letters of recommendation from teachers, counselors or members of the community, and a response to an assigned essay question. The deadline to complete the application and submit credentials is February 1. The selection process includes an interview of the candidates, which is arranged by phone for international students.

7. Can international students work while completing their degree?
International students are eligible to work on-campus up to 20 hours per week throughout the semester and up to 40 hours per week during breaks. They are not allowed to work off campus unless they have some special permission from the Department of Homeland Security.

8. Can international students live off campus?
Students desiring to live off campus must apply to the Appeals Committee prior to registration. Students over the age of 21 will receive priority for off campus housing. Students with relatives in Springfield can appeal to live off campus regardless of their age.

9. Does Drury University accept application fee waivers?
The application fee is waived for all international applicants.

10. What are the application deadlines?
The recommended deadline for the Spring semester is November 1, for the Fall June 1. However, we do consider applications after these dates if they are mailed with all the necessary documents.

11. What are the scholarship deadlines?
Drury awards scholarships once per year, and the scholarship deadline for Academic Honor Scholarships is March 1. The deadline for Drury Scholars Scholarships is February 1.

12. Is there an application form for scholarships?
No, there is no particular form that needs to be filled. Once the candidate applies, he or she is immediately considered for scholarships based on his/her high school GPA and English test scores.

13. If I get a scholarship will I need to show a proof of financial support from my family?
Students who have been awarded scholarships need to show proof of financial support for the difference between tuition and fees and their scholarship amount.

14. Are the scholarships renewable and what are the requirements?
Yes, the scholarships are renewable each year as long as the student maintains good academic standing and a GPA of 3.0.

15. What is conditional admission?
Students who score between 157-197 on TOEFL, 400 and 500 on SAT Verbal, and/or 5.5 on IELTS qualify for conditional admission. These students will automatically study in Drury’s English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program until they reach the accepted level of English proficiency.

16. What is English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program?
English for Academic Purposes is a transitional program designed to help international students improve their English language skills and be successful in the course of their degrees. The program offers a variety of classes that concentrate on grammar, pronunciation, speaking and writing skills. All EAP courses count for credit towards the student’s degree.

17. Can I take TOEFL after I arrive on campus?
No, students must have a TOEFL score prior to being accepted.


18. Do international transfer students with 30 or more credit hours need to take the TOEFL?
All international students who transfer with 30 hours or more from a college in their home country must take the TOEFL.
Students with 30 hours or more who transfer from a U.S college or university may have the TOEFL test waived.
