Afternoon Session: Differentiation & the Brain: Five Elements That Make Classrooms Work for All Students
Dr. Carol Tomlinson teaches at the University of Virginia's Curry School of Education where she was named Outstanding Professor in 2004. She also received an All University Teaching Award in 2008. Prior to joining the UVA faculty, she was a public school teacher for 21 years (preschool, middle school and high school). She was named Virginia's Teacher of the Year in 1974. She has authored numerous books and articles on the topic of differentiated instruction and curriculum development. In this workshop, Dr. Tomlinson will describe five key elements of “defensible differentiation”—teaching that is highly likely to make a positive difference in the achievement of students and in their overall school experience—including academically advanced learners.
