OWENSBORO, Ky. - The Drury University women's tennis squad posted a pair of easy victories to move into Saturday's title match in the Great Lakes Valley Conference championships Friday.
The Panthers of coach Jarrod Smith defeated Bellarmine 5-1 in the quarterfinals and Southern Indiana 5-0 in the semifinals to improve to 7-0 this fall and advance to the 11 a.m. championship tilt on the campus of Kentucky Wesleyan.
"Indianapolis won the conference last year and is the favorite to win it this year," Smith said. "We're excited for the opportunity to play for the championship."
DU junior Alexandra Miranda-Sanchez was named the GLVC Player of the Year and Miranda-Sanchez, senior Maria Amato and senior Camille Ducourt were named to the 12-player all-conference squad.
