For those who want to make a career in the art world.
The arts administration major crosses boundaries among art, art history, music, theatre, writing, business, and training arts afficionados to be creative performers in the front offices of opera companies, museums, galleries, concert halls and the like.
As the art business becomes more competitive, there's an increasing need for people with enough artistic sense to recognize talent, and the business sense to make it successful.
The Arts Administration major provides students with an interdisciplinary education focused around themes important to the arts and arts administration. The major is coordinated by Kay Osborne in the Breech School of Business Administration and jointly administered with the Art & Art History, Music, Theatre, and English departments. Business courses required have been altered to include modules and/or projects with an arts administration focus to fully facilitate the objectives of the major. Courses include real-world projects with local arts agencies to better prepare students for internships and careers.
