While listening to Ruby, it was as if light bulbs were going off in my head. I suddenly realized why techniques were not working on certain students. I had to start operating on their level and with vocabulary and ideas that their community would understand. I acquired the knowledge and ideas to do this from listening to Ruby's session. (Student)

Make it more relative, not just info, but practical ways to implement things in the classroom. The poverty simulation was the only activity that I remember anything from because I got to physically do something and discover things for myself instead of just sitting and listening to someone talk about it.
