Professor Michael J. Buono, AIA, LEED AP, begins his 13th year in the Hammons School of Architecture. Professor Buono served as Director of the school from 2000 until 2012 and has returned to full-time teaching this fall. Prior to joining the Hammons School of Architecture, he served as Associate Dean and also Director of the Architecture program at the University of Arkansas for a fifteen-year period. He has also taught at Texas Tech University, Georgia Tech and Mississippi State University over his 36-year career in higher education.
Professor Buono has also practiced architecture with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and architectural firms in Atlanta Georgia and Denver, Colorado. He has maintained his own small practice since 1986 and his primary interest is in Sustainable Design.
Professor Buono has also served since 2004 as the Drury University Faculty Athletic Representative representing Drury University to the NCAA and Great Lakes Valley Conference.
