Physics Facilities
The physics laboratories (located in the Trustee Science Center) contain ten Dell Pentiums with printers and interface data collection equipment. Additional laptop computers are available for use with astronomy equipment. The computers are interfaced with a wide variety of sensors for analyzing data (i.e. temperature, motion, magnetic fields, sound, etc.).
Specialized equipment includes four 8" Meade LX-200 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes, two 10" and one 14" LX-200s, a suite of Santa Barbara Instruments Group CCD digital cameras, a computer-based optics system, and a computer-based acquisition system for nuclear physics.
Additionally, there are two multichannel sodium iodide gamma ray systems that are fully computer integrated. A ten-inch telescope and CCD camera system has its own computer for control and recording images. A mass spectrometer and its associated high vacuum system are available for studies involving atomic and chemical physics.
