Global Perspectives 21 Core Curriculum & Architecture
Integral with the Architecture Program, Global Perspectives 21 (GP21) is the core curriculum for all students entering Drury University. GP21 prepares students to benefit from and contribute to life in a rapidly changing global community. Drury graduates will better understand the arts and sciences and earn a minor in global studies.
Essential to lifelong learning and global perspectives, three emphases characterize GP21:
• communication and interpersonal skills • critical and creative thinking • values analysis and understanding
Alpha Seminar
The Alpha Seminar is the gateway to Global Perspectives 21 and the Drury experience. The course is writing-intensive, helping students develop skills for success in college and their multi-disciplinary careers ahead.
Global Studies Minor
At graduation, students will have a minor in global studies. The courses focus on western traditions and the diversity of human culture, language, history, and experience. Major challenges facing humanity are explored in this series which culminates with consideration to possible global futures.
Scientific Perspectives
Lab based science courses enhance science and mathematical understanding. By conducting research with an emphasis on real-world topics, students develop an understanding of science, social science, economics, political science and human behavior.
Senior Seminar
The senior seminar is the culminating experience for the global perspectives curriculum and the architecture core which prepares students for life as professional.
Honors
Honor students are invited to participate in an innovative and interdisciplinary university honors curriculum which parallels their major and the GP21 curriculum.
Special Programs
All architecture students are encouraged to take advantage of the broad offerings on campus.
