Chapter Safe Living Program & Recognition
Safe Living & Wellness are priorities of the Drury Greek Community. Each chapter understands the value of member accountability, understanding and involvement and provides resources and support to help each member reach their personal wellness goals. Drury Greek chapters are required to have a structured safe living program that is created, implemented and maintained by the chapter's risk management officer as part of the Greek Leadership Team. The chapter safe living program should include:
- Information about campus services to support students in need
- Information about national/local safe living resources available to chapter members
- Sponsoring chapter educational sessions covering required chapter and Greek community topics
- Chapter participation in the on-campus Sober Squad program
- Educating chapter on emergency guidelines and emergency processes
- Creating and maintaining an officer-in-charge emergency management communication and leadership plan
- Holding members and chapters accountable for behavior that doesn't meet chapter and Greek community standards
- Participation in chapter safe-living educational sessions
- Coordinating safe-living-related guest speakers at chapter meetings
- Participating in campus-sponsored safe living educational programs
- Providing recognition and incentives for member understanding and involvement in safe-living programs
- Presenting achievement awards for member understanding and involvement in safe-living programs
Officer Meetings with Greek Life Staff
The Greek Life Staff meets twice per semester with this Officer. During the meeting, the Greek Life Staff and Chapter Officer will review important information including:
- Standards of Excellence Accreditation Report: Review the Greek Life & university standards for your position and progress made.
- Goals, Projects & Action Plan: What are your goals and how are you accomplishing these goals? What projects are you currently working on? How are things going? What are you proud of? What needs to be improved?
- Calendar: What are upcoming chapter events and activities that relate to your office?
- Ideas & Feedback: What big ideas do you have? What are chapter members talking about? What feedback can you provide for improvements?
- Greek Life Staff Assistance: How can we help you? What you need to know from the Greek Life Staff or university?
- At-risk students: Which chapter members are you concerned about from an academic, behavior, or wellness standpoint? (ie. poor GPA, not attending class, not completing assignments, changed behavior patterns)
- Performing students: Which chapter members are you proud of from a safe living standpoint? (ie. great GPA, always attends class, making great improvement progress, participates regularly in safe-living programs)
- Social Event Planning: Review upcoming events, review form submission standards and event planning/hosting standards, follow-up with any event issues, discuss event successes
Group Meetings: This officer meets monthly with the Safe-Living Council for a group meeting. During the meeting, Greek Life Staff and Chapter Safe Living Officers will review important information including:
- Chapter Safe Living Needs: What are the chapter safe-living needs, how can we improve member accountability and understanding to chapter and Greek community standards?
- Chapter Safe Living Success: What are the chapter safe-living successes, what has worked to improve member understanding and involvement?
- Recognition Opportunities: What recognition opportunities are planned at a chapter level? At a Greek community level?
- Calendar: What are upcoming chapter events and activities that relate to your office? What are the Greek community & campus events and activities that relate to your office?
