Alpha Psi Omega

About the Organization
The motto of Alpha Psi Omega is “Seek a life useful.” This is a motto that is taken seriously within the club. Members must be committed to the art of theatre and must stay actively involved in Drury Theatre productions. Alpha Psi Omega is a club created not only to honor dedicated students of theatre but to encourage and inspire these students to go above and beyond what is expected. Alpha Psi Omega asks its members to push the limits of their creativity and art to better themselves, the Drury Theatre Department, and the art of theatre as a whole. Alpha Psi Omega provides its members the opportunity to learn and experience theatre as produced by the Drury Theatre Department. Membership in Alpha Psi Omega is based upon a unified theatrical experience. Because of this students are challenged to step outside their comfort zones. Actors are challenged to be designers. Technicians are faced with the prospect of being in the spotlight. Directors are asked to think like playwrights. Alpha Psi Omega allows for its members to experience Drury Theatre as a whole and not just in one specific area.

Meetings
Alpha Psi Omega meets bi-monthly on Fridays in Lydy Hall, Room 126.

How to Join
Membership to Alpha Psi Omega is based upon a point system dictated by the national Alpha Psi Omega club. Students receive points through their involvement in the production of theatre. A student needs 75 points to be eligible for Alpha Psi Omega and they must earn points in at least two different areas. Points can be earned through acting, designing, stage management, working crew, playwriting and directing. Each position has a different point value range. The director of the show determines the final points awarded for the production of the students, and eligible students will receive an invitation to membership.
