Freshman Living-Learning Communities for the 2018-2019 Academic Year
Yes. All LLC sections will be housed in Sunderland Hall.
No, all students wishing to be in an LLC must apply and submit all requirements by the April 15, 2018 deadline. Placement in a LLC is based on the quality of the application and short essay answers.
All freshmen at Drury must take CORE 101. Students who are selected to be in an LLC will live together in Sunderland Hall and be enrolled in the same CORE section. Students not in an LLC will still be enrolled in CORE 101, but will not live with all the students in their class.
The students enrolled in an LLC section also share the common interest of the LLC theme. This common theme aids in the transition to Drury and helps students to establish friendships and study groups.
The Pre-Health Science LLC does have a major requirement, but this is the only LLC that requires a certain major. See the Pre-Health Science LLC description for more information. Otherwise, students of all majors and minors, especially those who are unsure of their major, are welcome and encouraged to apply to any of the LLC sections.
Yes, but the additional time required is very minimal. Students are asked to participate in one out-of-class activity related to their LLC theme each month. These activities are usually decided by the students and faculty member in the class depending on what days and times work best for those involved.
The online application will be available for students in November 2017. Completed applications will be accepted through April 15, 2018.
To be considered for placement in one of the LLC themes all requirements must be received by 11:59 pm on April 15, 2018.

There will be no exceptions to this deadline.
All applicants will be notified by email of either immediate acceptance or if they have been placed on a wait list. Notifications will go out prior to May 1, 2018. The students who are selected to participate in an LLC will be asked to accept their placement by following the instructions in the email. If acceptance confirmation is not received by the deadline stated, that spot will be offered to a student on the wait list.
There is not an additional cost for the program. However, all LLC sections are housed in Sunderland Hall which is comprised of single rooms. View the housing prices for the current 2016-2017 academic year. We will update the website as soon as the housing prices for 2017-2018 are available.
