Mr. Doug Neidigh serves as the Director for OCSS. Doug earned his B.S in Environmental Health Science from Illinois State University and a M.S. Public Health from Missouri State University. He is a Registered Environmental Manager with the National Registry of Environmental Professionals and a Certified Energy Auditor with the Association of Energy Engineers. In addition, Doug has over 16 years of experience in environmental and energy management.

His experience includes environmental and facilities management positions in private industry, environmental management consulting, and providing pollution prevention and energy conservation technical assistance to industrial, commercial, and institutional organizations through both an established state agency and university-based technical assistance programs. He has successfully implemented ISO 14001 programs, as well as a Pollution Prevention (P2)/mercury reduction grant program with 20 hospitals under the EPA Illinois P2 program.

Through these experiences, Doug has gained substantial expertise at conducting environmental assessments, onsite research projects and P2 project implementation. Doug also teaches Environmental and Community Health, Pollution Prevention, Waste Management, and Air Quality and Pollution Control courses for the Environmental Health Science majors. Most recently Doug has started to provide research classes to students through his work in the OCSS.  His students conduct indoor air quality assessments for the asthma project created in collaboration with St. Johns Hospital.
