On Thursday, Feb. 20, some of Drury’s most entrepreneurial minds began a quest to create Drury’s best business model and win a $1,000 cash prize. Start Up Drury will culminate with final presentations on Thursday, April 10. The competition is open to current Drury undergraduates or December 2013 graduates.
Teams can have from 1 – 5 students and each team will be assigned a mentor from the community and the teams will be required to converse in person or electronically with the mentor at least three times as they develop their business models.
Besides the $1,000 cash prize for the winning team, that group will also have the opportunity to represent Drury in the #BOOM competition in Columbia the following weekend. The second and third place teams will win $500 and $250 respectively. Additionally, the idea with the broadest appeal will have an opportunity to raise capital on Crowd-It, and the top “green” business idea will attend the Missouri Environmental Initiative competition. The top “social business” model will represent Drury in the Values and Ventures competition at TCU in 2015.
Complete the application and deliver it IN PERSON to Lay Hall 302 by Friday, February 28 at 5:00 p.m. All teams will receive a kit complete with the Business Model Generation canvas, the guidebook, post it notes and markers. All teams will upload their business model sections according to the schedule in the participant guide to Blackboard. Those instructions will be included in the kit the teams pick up on Friday, February 28.
