Kim grew up on a farm in Bernie, Missouri, a small town located in the southeastern portion of the state, known as the Bootheel. After graduating from Southeast Missouri State University with a degree in Recreation, she married her husband Alan and moved to the St. Louis area and worked as a Recreational Therapist in a nursing home and also as a Program Coordinator for the St. Louis Association for Retarded Citizens.

Kim began her secretarial career with Smith Corona in the Chicago area many years ago . . . actually when folks were still purchasing typewriters! After her first son, Neal, was born, Kim and her family moved back to Missouri and almost three years later had a second son, Gabe. Kim has lived in Springfield for the past eighteen years and her boys attended Springfield Public Schools.

Since her days at Smith Corona, Kim has had several positions as an Administrative Assistant with the most recent being seven years at Springfield Public Schools working at the Kraft Administration Building for the Operations Department.

Kim began her position as the Administrative Assistant for the School of Education and Child Development in January 2013.
