Anthony Ervin is a US Olympic Gold Medalist, World Champion in the 50 and 100 freestyle, and current American record holder in the 50 freestyle.
In the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Anthony swam to a gold in the 50 freestyle becoming the fastest man on the planet. Today, Anthony is back in the water and has been training for the last year at U.C. Berkeley (his alma mater) alongside Olympic Gold medalists Natalie Coughlin and Nathan Adrian. In December 2011 – in his first USA Swim meet in 7 years – he won gold at the Chesapeake Pro-Am and immediately put himself back in the US top five.
Anthony participated in the U.S. Olympic Trials and was selected for the London Olympic Games for the 50 freestyle. In the Fall of 2012, he embarked on the World Cup circuit, which saw him travel to Asia, Europe and the Middle East. His strong ties with his fans allowed him to raise over $12,000 on online platform Indiegogo to fund his participation, and he brought home 16 medals as well an American record in the 50 freestyle. He went on to be part of Team USA at the SC World Championships in Istanbul, racking up 3 additional medals, two of them gold. He is now training for the 2013 USA Swimming Grand Prix series and beyond. His return at 30 brings a renewed outlook of enjoying the journey and appreciating the moment.
