Dr. Teresa J. Hornsby is a Professor of Religious Studies. Dr. Hornsby holds an MTS degree from Harvard Divinity School, a master's degree and a Ph.D. in New Testament Studies from Vanderbilt University. Dr. Hornsby researches and lectures primarily on the topics of Sexuality in the Bible, and Queer Theory. She is the author of Sex Texts from the Bible (Jewish Lights/Skylight Paths Publishers, 2007), a co-editor of Bible Trouble: Queer Reading at the Boundaries of Biblical Scholarship(Society of Biblical Literature, 2011), and a number of articles, book chapters, and essays. Dr. Hornsby’s most recent article is “The Dance of Gender: David, Jesus and Paul,” in Neotestamentica, a journal based in South Africa, where she was recently invited to lecture at the University of South Africa in Pretoria and at Stellenbosch University in Stellenbosch. Dr. Hornsby is currently working on a manuscript called Bible Transitions: Toward a Trans Biblical Hermeneutic.
