Generally, F-1 students use Optional Practical Training (OPT) after they graduate to work in their field of study, commensurate with their educational level, for one year. OPT can be used part-time prior to graduation as well. F-1 students are eligible for up to 12 months of OPT after each higher degree (i.e. Bachelor, Master, PhD.)
Employment authorization for OPT is granted by US Citizenship and Immigration Services(CIS) in the form of an Employment Authorization Document (EAD). Please download the OPT packet from http://_______ or pick it up from ISS.
