The Housing Intention Form lets us know if you want to keep your current apartment or participate in the Returner Self-Assignment Process. You will also make sure you need to submit your contract for next year! Contracts are due February 19, 2021 for students who want to keep their current assignment or participate in the Returner Self-Assignment. Students who fail to turn in a contract by the deadline will be randomly assigned a room based on preference noted on the contract.
THE 2021-22 ACADEMIC-YEAR HOUSING CONTRACT AND EXEMPTION REQUEST WILL BE IN MYDRURY JANUARY 1; THE HOUSING OFFICE WILL EMAIL STUDENTS WHEN IT IS LIVE. Choose “Campus Life” from the top menu (it may be under “More”). Click the “Housing” folder from the left menu. Choose “Housing Contract” or “Exemption Request” for the correct academic year from the left menu.
There is no set number of hours that will guarantee a first choice, since the order of the list changes from year to year, based on who applies for what. Students will higher credit hours will be able to pull in students with lower credit hours. Be sure to file a housing contract in MyDrury for the academic year you are applying.
Historically speaking, no freshman rising to sophomore has ever gotten a 1-bedroom unit or studio at sign-up night, but that doesn’t mean it will never happen.
E-mail housing@drury.edu or stop by the Housing office as soon as you realize this. Include your name, building preferences, preferred roommate gender, and how you want possible roommates to contact you. The Housing office compiles a list of everyone seeking a roommate. They’ll share names and contact information with you so you can find a good roommate match on your own.
Any group that includes a person with a fall-only contract is encouraged to find an alternate person for the open semester. It is quite common for architecture students who are going abroad to team up in a group of 8 (4 in a unit for the fall semester & a different 4 for the spring semester).
If a group does not select a spring alternate, the Housing office will assign a student to the empty space after housing sign-ups are over. Groups signing up for non-theme Midtown houses are required to declare a spring semester alternate on their online Housing Selection Form. Spring alternates must fill out a housing contract in MyDrury by the deadlines along with the fall residents. If a group does not select the fall-only replacement they will not be able to pick a Midtown house at sign-up.
A spring-only resident may also work with the Housing office to skip Housing Sign-Ups, but come in the day after to see what will be open in the spring. Spring-only students who want a private apartment should consult with the Housing office directly.
Spring-only residents should email housing@drury.edu to discuss options in more detail.
If you are on a Drury study-abroad, you will receive notices about deadlines at your Drury email address during the spring semester. You will be held to the same deadlines as students in the U.S.
The form is online and you will be able to participate in the process.
Roommate groups who submit housing selection forms will choose a unit based on everyone who submits a contract. For example, if only 3 out of 4 roommates filed a contract, then only the 3 people will be placed. The 4th room will be assigned by the Housing office at a later date.
If you applied for non-theme housing via the Returner Self-Assignment Process and do not get the assignment, Housing will send you a link to see what rooms are left. You can then select a room based on the remaining rooms.
If you do not get into an apartment, your name will automatically go on the apartment wait list. While you wait for an apartment, the Housing office will assign you to the Sunderland upperclassmen suite.
All academic-year housing contracts are for mid-August to mid-May (dates will be on DCAL) unless you’re studying abroad, student teaching, graduating in December, or you drop to part-time/drop out at semester. Be sure to read the terms of the housing contract before you submit it. You will receive an email confirmation of your contract after submission in MyDrury. Please keep it for your records.
Filing a Request for Exemption to cancel an academic-year contract after the exemption deadline will result in cancellation fees. Please refer to the pricing webpage for details.
Summer contracts are completely optional and offer flexible time frames. Summer contracts will be available in MyDrury in February. Choose the “Campus Life” tab in MyDrury, then the “Housing” folder from the left menu. The Summer Contract will be in the left menu as well.
