Drury Places Third in 2013 International Collegiate Programming Contest

Drury put forth an extremely strong showing in this year’s International Collegiate Programming Contest, sponsored by the Association of Computing Machinery and held this past Saturday at various universities across the globe. Coaches Carol Browning and Scott Sigman took two Drury teams to the Mid-Central USA branch of this contest at the University of Arkansas. We were competing against 15 teams from Missouri and Arkansas. Our team of Tyler Jenkins, Zach Glossip, and Josef Polodna managed to solve four of eight difficult problems in the allotted five-hour time period, garnering a ribbon-winning third place! Our team of Kurt Smith, Jeffery Robinson II, and Ian Myers, on their first trip to the contest, solved a very impressive two problems.  (These are hard problems, folks!)

One extra special tidbit: with literally seconds to go, Tyler, Zach, and Josef submitted their solution to their fourth problem and it was judged correct. This caused them, in the last few seconds of the competition, to vault ahead of the top team from MSU!

So, if you see any of Tyler, Zach, Josef, Kurt, Jeffrey, or Ian, you might wish to congratulate them!
