Campus Housing Damage Information

Except for normal wear and tear, residents are responsible for all damage to the unit, furnishings and public areas identifiable with specific individuals.

Residents are also responsible for damages caused by their guests and visitors. Charges may result from, but are not limited to, the following violations:

  1. Unauthorized detachment, movement or removal of residence furnishings
  2. Improper use and/or negligent use of university appliances, furniture or facilities
  3. Tampering with fire safety systems, smoke detectors and/or sprinkler systems
  4. Trash or debris (including cigarette butts and unsightly furniture) on the interior or exterior of the residence
  5. Damage resulting from the violation of any policy mentioned in this handbook or your housing contract

RESIDENCE LIFE CLEANING/DAMAGE CHARGE INFORMATION
Students who do not check out with a staff member will be charged a $100 improper checkout fee. Residents are not charged for normal wear and tear. This listing of cleaning and damage charges is not all-inclusive. Drury University reserves the right to modify any charge.

Cabinets dirty = $20

Oven dirty = $70
Drip pans need to be replaced = $8 each

Refrigerator not emptied = $30
Refrigerator dirty = $35
Freezer not emptied = $10
Freezer dirty = $20
Freezer not defrosted (Defrosting does not apply to apartment-style housing.) = $30

BATHROOM
Floor dirty = $10
Toilet dirty = $20
Seat broken = $30
Toilet broken = $150

BATHROOM WASH AREAS
Sink/counter dirty = $20
Cabinets not empty = $20
Cabinets dirty = $20
Tub/shower/fixtures dirty = $35
Damage to/missing curtain or rod = $25
Tub repair = Price assessed

LIVING AREAS/BEDROOMS
Trash on floor not picked up = $20
Carpet not vacuumed/swept = $20
Carpet stained beyond normal wear & tear = $40 per room
Tears/burns in carpet = Price assessed

FURNITURE
Bed not assembled = $35
Moving furniture within unit = $25 per item
Removal of damaged furniture = $25 per item
Damaged/missing furniture will be replaced/repaired at resident’s expense = Price assessed

ELECTRICAL FIXTURES
Cover plates broken/missing = $8
Cover plates dirty = $5
TV connector missing = $25
Smoke detector/fire extinguisher/sprinkler damage = Price assessed

DOORS & WINDOWS
Screen damaged = $25
Broken lock = $50 per core
Failure to return room key = $250
Latches (time to repair) = $35 per hour
Failure to return mailbox key = $25
Blinds/Windows damage = Price assessed

WALLS
Nail holes (time repair) = $35 per hour
Paint/spackle repair = $35 per hour
Walls/ceilings dirty (food, dirt, fingerprints) = Price assessed

CLOSETS
Not cleaned out = $25
Closet rod/shelf missing = $25
Closet door damage = Price assessed

FRATERNITY HOUSE COMMON AREAS
Common area trash on floor = $50 per hour
Common area floor dirty = $50 per hour
Common area walls dirty = $50 per hour
Trash cans not emptied = $50 per hour
