Production Emphasis

DUTV

Waiting lists do not exist at DUTV. Motivated freshmen can produce as many video projects as seniors.

DUTV is equipped with the best and most up-to-date production equipment of any university media program in the region, and we don't reserve just for the senior class.

Our Philosophy

Video-production students decide which genre of production they'll pursue, including advertising, documentaries, film shorts, news/sports or corporate video. With six edit bays and more than 10 field cameras including DSLRs, students are able to produce several full-length programs each semester. Students interested in filmmaking produce short films while future broadcasters develop news and sports shows.

Our philosophy is simple: Succeeding at video production requires constant creation.

The Gear You'll Use

When it comes to studio and field production, Drury University’s equipment is tops in the region. Our students work the Steadicam and run a boom camera. DUTV is also equipped with HD Sony field cameras, DSLR Cameras from Canon and top-of-the-line light kits. Students edit in state-of-the-art edit bays on Final Cut Pro X.

Best of all: None of the gear is reserved for upperclassmen. Once trained on the equipment, any student — regardless of class — may use the equipment.

The Studio

Drury University is home to Carole Lambert Studios, the newest state-of-the-art TV studio in collegiate broadcasting and filmmaking.

Our studio features four cameras, including one on a 16-foot boom for high arching and low sweeping action shots. It is here that future producers, directors and boom operators are created.

The studio is named after Drury alumna Carole Lambert, who recently retired from her post as news anchor with KTUL in Tulsa and was inducted into the Oklahoma Broadcasting Hall of Fame. Carole is a frequent visitor in the studio, advising anchors on their on air delivery and news writing.

On Camera Training

We reward creativity at DUTV. If you don't win an audition for our main shows, pitch your own show.

Every DUTV student can host a program every semester. You will host, edit and lead your crew through the entire production. You will also decide the genre, whether it be entertainment, news, sports, political or pop culture. The only limit is your imagination.

That’s what you can expect from our media program: A chance to become a top media producer from the moment you walk in the door.
