Why Do Students Seek Counseling?

For a variety of reasons...

Students seek counseling for a variety of reasons. The most common concerns discussed include:

  • Relationships
  • Family issues
  • Life decisions
  • Eating disorders
  • Drug/alcohol abuse
  • Sexual assault/sexual abuse
  • Loss and grief
  • Sexuality
  • Depression and anxiety
  • Test anxiety
  • Academic related concerns

Several other issues that impact a student's academic performance and well being may be important to discuss in counseling. While the focus of Counseling Services is with personal issues, the staff works closely with Disability Services, the Career Center, and the Office of Student Life to ensure that student's needs are being met.
