M.A. in Communication

Plus One Option

Did you know you can be part of the 9% in half the time?

Drury University’s Accelerated Program compresses the Master of Arts in Communication curriculum into three semesters (summer, fall, spring) providing a competitive advantage to students who enter the workforce with advanced degree completion in a Plus One Year.  This year's Accelerated Program begins in June of 2013.

While anyone can apply each fall to start the Plus One Year the following summer, Drury Day School Students are guaranteed seats in the Accelerated Program.  Communication Majors and Minors with at least a 3.2 gpa and Non-Majors/Minors with at least a 3.5 gpa are guaranteed seating with applications submitted by December 3rd at 5pm.

Accepted students complete both BA and MA programs in five years on average—about the same time the average U.S. college student earns a bachelor’s.  This truly is a fast track to becoming part of the 9%: the percentage of the U.S. workforce holding or working toward an advanced degree.

Accelerated students have an in-built professional activity during January to grow resume and career development.  Accelerated students also have the flexibility of accomplishing the Graduate Records Exam any time during the program's first two semesters (summer or fall) rather the having to complete the GRE prior to acceptance.  Finally, accelerated students can choose from any one of the MA in Communication emphases:  Nonprofit Communication, Integrated Marketing or Organizational Leadership & Change.
