Chemistry Research Program
The chemistry department has a long tradition of making research an integral part of the academic program. All chemistry students are expected to participate in research and to present their research at regional or national meetings. In the past three years, over 70 students have participated in research with 40 becoming co-authors in refereed journals and 35 presenting their research at national meetings of the American Chemical Society.
The expectations for students are high because imaginative faculties and critical thought are further developed when students provide a synthesis of their research and make it available for public scrutiny. The research program at Drury University has been nationally recognized with one member of the department being awarded the 1998 ACS national award for excellence in undergraduate research.
