eLearning Technical Requirements
Preparing your computer to take online courses
Taking an online or blended course means that one needs to have a computer that is capable of interacting in a Moodle course. This requirement is easy to meet provided students have the following software available:
- A reliable Internet connection
- The ability to upload (attach) and download a file
- A word processing software. Microsoft Works, Microsoft Word or Word Perfect are examples of programs that will do this. A free alternative to students is Microsoft Office through Office 365 through Drury's Technical Support, or OpenOffice.org
Important Alert Concerning Internet Explorer
If you are using Internet Explorer as your web browser, it is possible that you may encounter some difficulties when accessing Moodle. Some features of Moodle do not interact well with Internet Explorer. As a result, we recommend using Chrome or Mozilla Firefox (both available free) as your internet browser when accessing Moodle. If you are unsure of what internet browser you are using, try visiting http://www.whatbrowser.org. This website will display the browser you are using on the screen.
