Please tell us a brief bio of your career.
Gary R. Holmes is Assistant Professor of Marketing in the Breech School of Business Administration at Drury University. He has a Ph.D. (Marketing) from the University of North Texas, an MBA from Drury University, and a BS from Missouri State University. He has nine years’ experience in bank services marketing in his position as VP of Marketing. His research has appeared in Journals such as International Journal of Advertising, Journal of Hospital Marketing and Public Relations, Journal of Product and Brand Management, Journal of Current Issues and Research in Advertising, Journal of Promotion Management, and Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services.
How does the Breech School of Business prepare students for their professional career?
The fact that Breech students are required have an internship is probably one of the best things that prepare students. Many teachers have professional experience that helps match theory with application in the classroom.
What sets Breech apart from other business schools?
The study abroad requirement helps the students to experience a global perspective that is so important in today’s business environment.
Do you have any favorite memories inside the Breech building?
Having my marketing students drop their packaging projects out the top floor window is always a good time.
What advice would you offer to a new student beginning their course of study in the Breech School of Business?
Get to know your professors. They will help you if you run into a rough spot during class and many professors have outside contacts which are helpful in finding a job after graduation.
